Ti Tree Bioenergy is a waste disposal facility that utilises “best practice” bioreactor technology to rapidly stabilise waste while capturing environmentally damaging methane and converting it into electricity.

The facility utilises the 37 million cubic metre void left over from a previous open cut coal operation on the outskirts of Ipswich. As the site is filled, completed areas are rehabilitated to complement the surrounding natural environment.

Ti Tree is located adjacent to main roads and rail transport, further enhancing its appeal for economically sustainable waste management in Australia and the world.

At Ti Tree Bioenergy, we are committed to sustainable development of renewable energy. Our Bioreactor facility is an exciting, environmentally sound alternative in waste management and we are proud to be leading innovators in the environmental industry.

In conjuction with the development of the green energy from the Bioreactors, the facility also focuses on sustainable development in all facets of its operations, such as the development of forestry plantations and wildlife corridors.

Ti Tree puts into practice many of the elements we'll have to adopt to create a sustainable future.

Soil remediation is now being driven by pubic health concerns, the move toward environmental protection and increased pressure for new urban development.

The Ti Tree Bioenergy facility is a major advancement in waste management, developed by leading waste management companies Veolia Environmental Services and JJ Richards & Sons.

Ti Tree is a vastly different facility to a traditional landfill because it dramatically accelerates the rate of waste stabilisation, reduces greenhouse gas emissions and utilises the biogas produced by the waste (mostly methane) as an efficient source of green energy.

It is estimated that at full production, the net reduction in greenhouse gas emissions will be equivalent to removing 90,000 cars from the road or planting 1.4 million trees. Ti Tree is the way of the future for environmentally sustainable waste management.

Ti Tree Bioenergy is a joint venture between two of Australia’s leading environmental services companies, Veolia Australia and New Zealand and JJ Richards and Sons. Between them they employ some 5000 men and women and have a combined annual turnover of more than $2 billion in Australia and New Zealand.

Veolia Australia and New Zealand is part of the international Veolia group, which is a world leader in environmental management, while JJ Richards and Sons is the largest privately owned waste management company in Australia.

The joint venture has access to international expertise and experience through its association with Veolia. Veolia has an annual turnover of more than A$35 billion and an environmental services staff of more than 179,000 people worldwide. Veolia companies operate 601 treatment plants worldwide, and are at the forefront of bioreactor technology.
